This book will provide students, researchers and development practitioners a good understanding of the seasonal unemployment problem faced by rural households of the North-West districts of Bangladesh. Using a Life-cycle approach, it illustrates how households cope during those lean period both in terms of livelihood changes and consumption smoothing. Thus, this book offers a more detailed qualititative information of the seasonal unemployment problem and strategies adopted by rural households. The findings of this sfrategy may help the government and non-governmental organizations to devise policies and programmes more prudently for the targeted area and populations.
