Its gives brief idea about the management, the principles, features, advantages and disadvantages of the classical and neo-classical theories of management. On later part it has contextualized the principles of these theories in the context of school in India. For contextualizing the applicability and effects of classical and neo-classical theories of management a study was undertaken in Nuapada District of Odisha, India. All elementary schools of Nuapada District were the population and 40 teachers and 10 Headmasters from 10 different schools was the sample of this study. In this study, the application, effects and challenges of classical (scientific, bureaucratic and administrative) and Neoclassical (human relation) approaches of management have been examined and contextualized in the management practices of schools.
