Child labor issue is an important social problem
both for developed and developing countries.
Seasonal agricultural work is one of the worst forms
of child labor in Turkey since it damages
development of children, causes health problems,
drop-outs and created unskilled labors of informal
sector in the future. Another important social
problem in Turkey is the forced migration which
causes poverty and social exclusion. In this
respect, this study is an attemp to show how these
two important social facts overlap. It analyzes the
socio-economic characteristics, living and working
conditions, educational profiles and the future
expectations of the child workers, who have been
living in tents for many years and working as
agricultural workers at Karagöçer and Kap köy areas
of Tuzla Municipality (Karata District) of Adana
Province since the early 90s after having been
forced to vacate their villages in rnak. It aims
to expose the poverty, deprivation and social
exclusion experienced by families and children and
the ways in which these people are deprived of their
social and political rights as citizens.
