Autorenporträt
Amanda Gehrke is an inspired educator and a poet. No Worries Whale is her first collection of what she hopes to be a long list of conservation-based poetry. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska and earned her bachelor's degree and both of her master's degrees in the state while simultaneously raising a family. Living in Nebraska places her about as far from the Oceans as physically possible within the United States, but that only motivated her further into writing poems to educate children, such as her own two daughters, about the importance of protecting the Oceans, no matter how close or far away they may be. Her love of animals doesn't stop at her writing. Amanda and her family share their home with two goofy Mountain dogs, two chubby Chihuahuas and a Siamese cat that thinks he is dog. When she isn't teaching in the classroom or enjoying her family and their menagerie of fur friends, she can be found haunting local bookshops and traveling. Keep an eye out for her follow up project 'No Frets Froggy: a book of rainforest poems' in the future, because if the whales shouldn't have to worry about their homes being destroyed, then the frogs shouldn't have to fret either.
