Plants are natural source of medicinally important compounds. This study was projected to investigate the Antilipidemic activity of withania somnifera. An investigation was carried out to study the effect of Gemmo and native phytoconstituents on blood cholesterol, HDL, LDL and Triglycerides level in rabbits. Different phytoconstituents like Alkaloides, Flavonoides, Glycosides, Tannic acid, Saponins were extracted. Antilipedimic activity was determined in rabbits. Change in body weight and various parameters like serum HDL, LDL, Triglycerides and Cholesterol were determined. In feeding trials 15 rabbits of approximately of same age and body weights were taken and randomly divided into 6 groups. It was given plant gemmo extract at the dosage level of 100mg/Kg body weight for 15 days. Then it was given isoproterenol for 2 days to determine preventive effect. After oral administration of plant and drug administration blood samples were taken by neck puncture and their serum was collected and checked for different parameters like (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides and cholestrol).
