The problem of feeding the increasing world population has been treated by policy makers and researches in two dimensions: world population and production of food materials. A third problem is the protection of already produced grain. About 900 million tons of grain are currently in storage throughout the world at any given time, properly engineered and managed systems for preserving harvested grain provide whole- some food free of insect damage, live insects and mites, insects fragments and pesticides, reduce the pressure on the environment by requiring less farmland, and reduce food related illnesses in domestic animals and humans.Among the natural fibers, jute fiber is considered to be most promising material because of its wide commercial availability in the required form and at a low cost. Jute based composites have already been proved to be a potential material for various structural and non structural low load bearing applications.
