Autorenporträt
Antony E. Green - born in Chesterfield a long time ago - has had a varied career in building, natural health and IT support. He also flirted with politics for a while before realising that getting involved with the political system was the least likely way to be able to change it! The system simply controls and shuts down any attempts to change it from within... no matter what the leaders would have us believe. The same applies to food, oil, law and medicine. The vested interests will not allow changes that affect their way of life. Therefore pressure must be brought to bear in other, more inventive ways, but always, ultimately, by the people who are their customers. The biggest challenge in writing, for him, is to open reader's minds to allow them to think for themselves, rather than telling them what they should be thinking... at the same time as entertaining them. "Preaching shuts down minds and is completely counter-productive, unless the goal is to make people afraid to think." Writing novels that pay no heed to shackles and bring characters to life, who many of us would like to be, or like to see get their just deserts, allows a freedom for the reader that can rarely be enjoyed in daily life. At the same time, however, it prods the reader to question so many things that they would otherwise permit to roll over them. HIs first book, Animan, written in 1994/5, has been rewritten and updated for release in 2015. It is a story of poaching in Africa. It was prompted by a big spread in a Sunday newspaper magazine showing a fat German 'businessman' standing on the head of an elephant he had so bravely shot from 300 yards with a high-powered 'hunting' rifle. Such heroic deeds demanded a response. Typically, Antony responded, not by hunting down the hero and shooting him, as he probably deserved, but by drawing attention to the disgraceful behaviour of people who slaughter animals for fun from the back of a truck, or simply for profit. The response was unique, complex and very entertaining. The second major story, Noah's Secret, was published on amazon, in 2011. Noah is a trilogy and the second part is underway, somewhat later than intended but the pressures of earning a living get in the way of the enormous amount of time needing to be dedicated to such a large project. The only thing standing in the way of completing Noah and writing the sequel to Animan is time and money!
