P-cadherin: a breast cancer stem cell marker

The focus of this book is on cancer stem cells (CSC, also known as cancer initiating cells), a stimulating topic in cancer research. P-cadherin, an adhesion molecule overexpressed at the surface of breast cancer cells, may help identify the CSCs from basal-like carcinomas, a particular aggressive subtype of breast cancer. This constitutes an attractive target for a malignancy that has such a negative impact worldwide.
