The book is an autobiography. It tells of a boy who was born into a poor parentage and could not go further to secondary school after his primary education. This was against his childhood desire to go to school and become a teacher some day. Since his parents could not afford to send him to secondary school, a young man from his village took him over and gave him tailoring training. While in search of menial job in Port Harcourt to survive, he attended night classes for two years to obtain General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level). He later obtained General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) the following year from home Studies. With these certificates, he started teaching in private secondary schools before gaining admission to university. As a poor young adult, the author went through severe hardship but always maintained that the future would be better for him. A few years after his first degree, he went back for his Master's degree while still awaiting to have employment. After his Master's degree, he went back for his PhD. With his PhD, he got employment as a university teacher. Today, he has reached the peak of his teaching career.

Aniefiok Udoudo is a Professor of Communication in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is an author of three books. He authored 23 book chapters and 43 articles in learned journals across the world.
