Anika Pavel was born JarmilaKocvarova in communist Czechoslovakia. What was intended as a one-year stay in England turned her into a refugee when the Soviet Unioninvaded her homeland. Anika Pavel's writing draws from the varied experiences of her life, which has taken her to three continents, brought her across geopolitical divides, and made her a witness to many historical events.
