Dr. Anne Davis is Director of Educational Programs at BibleInteract, a group of biblical scholars who record their ongoing research for public viewing. Her work on the concept of the remnant in Scripture has led to a series of four books. In Book One, Dr. Davis addresses Israel's inheritance, which offers a foundational understanding of God's selection of a remnant from among all His people. Dr. Davis shows us through Scripture that all the people of Israel are born to a special inheritance known as the birthright because God calls them His firstborn son. However, simply being born to the birthright does not necessarily mean that receiving that inheritance is secured. There is the possibility of losing this special inheritance because of unrighteous behavior and God will choose another son who is worthy. Those who are not selected to participate in the remnant still belong to God but will not receive this special inheritance of leadership. Dr. Davis will lead us on a journey that includes an introduction to the ancient artistry of language in the biblical text, the inheritance of the birthright, and ultimately connects the inheritance of the birthright with a remnant. She then explores the concept of a remnant in Genesis 1-6, demonstrates how the biblical narrative often conveys prophetic messages of future events, and highlights challenging passages from the Prophets and the Writings that help us understand what God expects of those whom he finds worthy and their future role in God's great Plan of Redemption.
