My studies have concentrated on the adaptation of Muslim Women in Germany and France. Although many similarities exist between those two groups, it is a must to examine each one separately. In order to understand Islamic female immigrants' quest for a new identity, it have been beneficial not only to look at the socio-cultural aspects of their lives, but also to examine the great influence immigrant literature and mass media have on them. Hopefully, studies such as mine will be a positive step in the direction of a society that will be more aware of the deeply rooted problems of racism and sexism.

A native of Belgium, lives and works in Morgantown, WV. She is currently employed as a Program Assistant II in the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University. She obtained her Masters Degree in Foreign Languages in 2006. She is married with two children.
