Administration of chlorpromazine and diphenhydramine (but not galantamine) re- increased the brain dopamine level in the rats. Administration of chlorpromazine and diphenhydramine (but not galantamine) after termination of benzhexol, reduced significantly benzhexol withdrawal symptoms in and consumption of benzhexol solution in rats. Benzhexol caused dose dependent neuronal degenerative changes in the neocortex and hippocampus areas in the rat brains. Benzhexol induced Straub tail and automutilation in rats.
