This study aims to isolate, quantify, assess and characterize the different functional roles of skeletal muscle, as Agonist, Antagonist, Synergist, Stabilizer or Neutralizer, during the movements of its proximal, distal or post distal joints Unimuscular-Interarticular actions , comparing with the Inter-muscles actions around many joints to produce a given movement. Healthy young subjects were recruited and technology of Kinesiological Electromyography Electromechanomyography EMMG was used. The EMMG signals of the antagonist muscles around the right and left elbows and knees Biceps and triceps Brachialis, rectus and biceps femoralis were scanned during the maximal concentric and eccentric contractions of flexion and extension in the proximal shoulder , distal Elbow and post distal wrist joints. EMMG data was smoothed, averaged and statistically processed to quantify, assess and compare more than five functional roles of each antagonist as well as contra lateral muscle. The study results suggest more comprehensive and accurate programming of Unimuscular-Interarticular actions and Intermuscular-Interarticular actions in neuromuscular and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
