Energy is among the major commodities that furnish everyone s life in quality & health. Cost efficient and reliable supply of electricity for health center must be ensured while expanding the construction of health centers all over Ethiopia to realize the basic health coverage. In this context, solar energy using PV technology is considered to be playing very important role. While the world is running out of fossil fuel which is a paramount source of almost all energies in our earth, extensive researches are being carried out to substitute it using sustainable energy sources. Beside their renewability, unlike fossil fuels, sustainable energy source are clean. In this book, the significance of solar power as renewable energy source for rural health centers is reviewed. Load analysis is done for the given rural health center and two types of energy efficient load systems have been recommended to be used as a substitute for the existing conventional loads. After load analysis & recommendations of new load system to the given rural health center, optimized design of standalone PV system is done for all of the three load systems using one of the powerful PV simulation software.
