Hugh a proud American living in Portland Oregon was born in England and split his childhood between England and southern Ontario. A train derailment left him with a permanently fused neck, preventing him from turning his neck and making it difficult to navigate through traffic and unfamiliar geography. Thus, he signed up his great nephew James as navigator, map reader and apprentice. Hugh a past University of Toronto professor, Architect and Social Worker provide him with a rich and cultured background. His enlightened knowledge and intelligence draw a sharp contrast to James's naiveness, youthfulness and inexperience. While Hugh's thriftiness, neuroticism and idiosyncrasies are challenged by James's innocence, stubbornness and sense of humor. Hugh was confronted with a whole new challenge as he was never married or around children. He spent his life educating himself and enjoying the arts.
