"Lampoon and Lamentation" is a collection of 23 poems, or at least, pieces of writing I would call poems which I have written in the last year (2022). The title comes from a line in the Communist Manifesto- though this book does not relate to the Manifesto in any way, I found this phrase interesting.

While I have written many other pieces, they weren't something I would've added to this book. It felt obvious to me which ones fitted the context of the book and which didn't, but said 'context' was undefinable for me.

Some of the poems you'll find here, like Fireflies in the Dark and Equanimity, are actually slightly modified lyrics of songs I have written. The slight modification is so they become not too repetitive and more poetic.

And there are a lot of irregularities in this book too - Some poems use heavy vocabulary (credits to all the vocabulary-building books I completed as a kid), forcing you to open your dictionaries while reading; While some poems use basic rhyme schemes and simple words. Some pieces are about loss and sorrow; Some about a person hopelessly in love; Some about happiness; And some are about stoicism.

This book is definitely not a collection meant to atop everyone (or rather, anyone). It is simply not possible. But I am very proud of what I've written. This is probably not going to sell much- It isn't meant to anyway. I just want it to be out there, available, forever. It gives me a sense of immortality in a way. On the other hand, though, it makes me feel vulnerable. Like everyone now could know exactly how my mind works. And even after many years of my death, if someone stumbles upon this book, they would know, quite substantially, about my thinking, and it, frankly, is scary (and fascinating at the same time).

I have included four, unedited poems, from the years 2015 and 2016, back when I was seven/eight. I hope you have a good laugh reading that. My mother found these one day, and I was overjoyed to have seen them again.

All in all, I am sure you will have a good time reading this book!
