Major factor for the technological development of materials is the improvement of composite materials. Composite materials constitute a big step towards optimizing materials. The construction industry demands materials with better mechanical properties (weight, strength, hardness, etc.). This book presents basic data of metal matrix composites (MMC), reinforcing materials, producing methods, mechanical properties and applications of MMC. The research is conducted and presented about the production and study of a composite material using experiment methods. These experiments used aluminium matrix composites reinforced with fly ash in different percentages. The microstructure of AMC samples was examined with the use of optical microscope while, the structure of composite material with an electronic microscope (SEM). Finally, a hardness test was performed in order to compare the different samples.

Vasileiadou Agapi holds B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, B.Sc. in Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering, MSc. in Mechatronics, MSc. in Quality Management and Technology. She has working experience in the industry and construction field as a Production Manager. Now she teaches in Secondary and Tertiary Education.
