The toppling of the vertical plane of representation, which is one of the constitutive elements of Western dance, requires a consideration of such issues as the vertical, representation, spatial planes and the horizontal. Critical theory and philosophy ask about the changes and opportunities the decision to topple the vertical carries with it. The dialogue between dance studies and critical theory and philosophy may evoke questions of existence, of politics, even of ethics, and not only the question of aesthetics. While investigating thoroughly the choreographic practices of La Ribot with reference to critical theory and philosophy, I noticed that it functions like a network system, which finds always new connotations, new aspects opening up the field of practice. Within this approach to making art it seems that the source of ideas remains endless. It is a matter of time, investigation and curiosity to maintain making art following Kaprow "alive". Since dance mainly means a creative focus on the living human body and its role in societies, I completely agree that contemporary dance choreography is challenging artists more than ever before.
