The researcher used classroom observations and stimulus recalled interview sessions in collecting data from 4 Mathematics teachers in Malaysian primary schools. The findings of this research suggested that teaching of Mathematics can be done in a second language provided teachers are supported with continuous training on language-related teaching strategies.

Dr. Ahmad Sabry Othman is now working as Head of R & D Department at Kota Bharu Teacher Training Institute, Kelantan, Malaysia. This is part of his PhD thesis at Otago University, New Zealand which focus on the use of second language to teach mathematics. His interests are in ESL teaching, HRD and qualitative research.
