This book is written in the form of dissertation. It presents a new framework for the recognition of handwritten Arabic words based on segmentation. This framework involves two phases (training phase and testing phase). In the training phase, Arabic handwritten characters were trained to be recognized, while in the testing phase, words were segmented into characters for recognition. Dr. Ahmed Lawgali is a lecturer at Benghazi University, Libya. He received his PhD in computer science from Northumbria University, UK. Lawgali has published several scholarly articles in the area handwriting analysis and recognition. His research interests lie in the area pattern recognition, document recognition, and biometrics.
