This book tries to discuss the image of Jerusalem from the perspective of three nineteenth century western protestant travelers; Pierre Loti, Mark Twain and William M. Thackeray. The travelers are amongst those who are known as authors rather than travelers or explorers. Such choice is important to emphasize the line between fiction and reality. Ahmet ¿p¿irli has his BA from Erciyes University on English Literature. His MA is on the same field from Fatih University where he has worked as a research assistant. He currently continues his doctorate studies on Comparative Literature at Fatih University and works as an instructor at Erciyes University, English Language Department.
