Dr. Ranthilaka R. Gammanpila (Ranawaka) is the consultant dermatologist at Teaching Hospital Kalutara, Sri Lanka. She qualified MBBS (1996) and MD (2004) from the University of Colombo and had one-year of research training at St John's Institute of Dermatology in UK (2006).
She is the editor of the first international medical book published in Sri Lanka: 'Atlas of Dermatoses in Pigmented Skin (2021). Springer, Singapore https://doi.org/10.1007/978-81-15-5483-4_15. She has been the author of 27 chapters in international dermatology books; has published 28 scientific papers in indexed journals including six clinical trials; and has authored eight medical books nationally. Her main areas of research interest are leishmaniasis, cutaneous tuberculosis, onychomycosis, and leprosy. She was the first Sri Lankan dermatologist to represent her motherland at the world congress of dermatology (WCD2019, Milan, Italy) being a co-chair and a guest speaker. Currently, she contributes to international books emphasizing the clinical differences in Brown skin versus White skin.
In 2022, she published her first short novel highlighting the whys and wherefores of current economic failure in Sri Lanka in the background of her personal experiences.
Dr Ajith P. Kannangara, MBBS MD, Consultant Dermatologist, specialist in Anti-aging medicine and Cosmetic dermatology is currently attached to the Ministry of Health, Teaching Hospital, Karapitiya, Galle, Sri Lanka. He obtained his M.B.B.S from University of Peradeniya and M.D (Dermatology) from University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. Dr. Kannangara received National Skin Centre & Stiefel Fellowship from National Skin centre, Singapore and post-doctoral International Dermatology Fellow from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Centre, North Carolina, USA. He also obtained Diploma from American Academy of Anti-Aging & Regenerative Medicine (A4M) and American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (A3M).
Dr. Kannangara also serves as editor and reviewer for various national and international Journals. His research papers are published in most renowned national and international journals of Dermatology, and he is among the co- editors of recently publish book of Atlas of Dermatoses in Pigmented Skin. He is one of the pioneers of proposed classification of Cutaneous Reactions of - Koebner, Wolf isotopic, Renbok, Koebner nonreaction, isotopic nonreaction, Immuno Compromised District & other related phenomenon and introducing the concept of Sparing phenomena.
Dr. Kannangara is the founding and current president of Skin Sri Lanka which is an associate member of International Association of Dermatology Patients Organization or Global Skin.
