Álvaro Martínez Camarena (Valencia, 1992) es doctor en Nanociencia y Nanotecnología por la Universitat de València, y profesor de Química Inorgánica en la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Anteriormente ha trabajado como investigador posdoctoral en las universidades de París-Saclay, Estrasburgo y Valencia, y ha realizado estancias temporales de investigación en las universidades de Viena, Florencia y Catania. Por su trayectoria académica ha recibido diversos premios, como el Premio Extraordinario de Grado (Valencia, 2014) y el Premio Internacional Fernando Pulidori (Debrecen, Hungría, 2018). Álvaro tiene además un máster en Periodismo y Comunicación Científica por la UNED. Su área de investigación está centrada en el diseño de nuevos sistemas moleculares con actividad antioxidante, especialmente destinados al tratamiento de enfermedades neurodegenerativas, como el Alzheimer o el Parkinson. En su faceta de divulgador ha sido galardonado con el XXVI Premio Europeo de Divulgación Científica 'Estudi General' por su libro El oxígeno: historia íntima de una molécula común (2020), así como con el Premio Josep Martínez Bisbal (2022). Además, es colaborador de la revista de divulgación Mètode y del podcast A Ciencia Cierta.
