This book reveals that about 388 tones per day of solid waste is generated in Benin metropolis and that about 53 tones per day of this solid waste is combustible. This combustible quantity of the solid waste was shown to be sustainable as a stand-alone fuel for a steam boiler with energy recovery. A detailed thermo-fluid design was carried out on concept 1 and it indicated that approximately 40.67kg/hr of solid waste is needed to generate about 91.10kg/hr of steam at 20bar and 400 which can produce electrical power of 20kW. Therefore, combusting 53 tones per day of solid waste in such a plant would generate about 1.1MW of electrical power. It will be useful to students of Applied Energy and Thermal Power Engineering as well as electricity generation companies seeking to generate clean energy from solid waste.
