In this work, the influence of the turbulence on the performance of the Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) has been investigated. For that numerical optimizations for aerodynamic shape design, pitch-control, analysis and semi-empirical performance predictions are developed. These methods are numerically and experimentally validated. The reliability of the design and the analysis methods are proven by applying them with additional modifications to large scale wind turbines.

Dr. Ali Al-Abadi, graduated from University of Baghdad (Iraq) with B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering. He worked later as lecturer and researcher at many universities and technical institutes. In 2014 he obtained the Ph.D. degree at Friedrich-Alexander University (Germany) in the field of Wind Energy.
