Information and Communication Technology's (ICT) rapid spread in our life and work has made us the race of "ICTians", and this explosive growth is claiming its share on the global energy demand from equipment production to disposal and operation with 2.7% of global CO2 emissions and is expected to increase more in the future. It is high time for humankind to embrace concepts that diminish the ICT carbon footprint without compromising usage, speed, and dependency. Conservation of resources can be well-linked to education and initiated from the academic institutions for building a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable ICT. Due to the increased awareness of Global Warming and Green House Gas (GHG) emissions, numerous studies are available on green ICT espousal in multiple sectors. However, there is a viable research gap yet to be complemented in green ICT acceptance and adoption methods. This study, therefore, attempts to delve deeper into the acceptance barriers and proposes a model expending smart practices with a focus on addressing drivers and readiness factors that motivate everyone to adopt green ICT practices.
