This beautifully illustrated children's picture book is realistic fiction, based on the life of Mama Lupita, a Mexican heroine. She started an orphanage in 1986, and has saved over three thousand children from the lonely streets of Nuevo Laredo. Mama Lupita runs the orphanage on Christian values, building the children's character and instilling morals. The family atmosphere she creates makes Mama Lupita's Happy Orphanage an inspiring story for children of all ages and all families. Bonus material with Album featuring the real life Mama Lupita and the children.

Ally Woodard became passionate about human rights at the age of nine when she was selected as an Ambassador for UNESCO's Art Miles Mural Project and Art Miles Shoes of Hope. She has traveled to Haiti, Mexico, the Philippines, India and China to deliver shoes, supplies, and work with children on art therapy projects. She has produced several documentaries, including "Saving the Children", which chronicles her initial visit to Casa Hogar Elim, an orphanage in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. It was there that she first met Mama Lupita, the heroine of this book. These experiences have served as inspiration for her TEDx and UN International Peace Day speeches, and have led to recognition from the White House Project and The Esperanza Learning Foundation of San Diego. More of Ally's writing, speeches and interviews can be found on her website, We Are All Connected (allywoodard.com).
