Alois Bock is a senior member of technical staff at Tandberg Television, part of the Ericsson Group. As a Chartered Engineer and Member of the IET, he has over 20 years experience in the development of video compression encoders and systems. After completing his PhD in 1988, he joined the Research and Development Department of the Independent Broadcasting Authority. Since then, Dr Bock has worked on many aspects of MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and H.264 compression encoding, including pre-processing, noise reduction, motion estimation, statistical multiplexing, splicing, rate control and realtime multi-pass encoding algorithms. Dr Bock has published over 30 technical papers and filed over 35 patents.
