Manganese Mining Microorganisms covers the latest amalgamation of the diversity of Mn biomining microorganisms, their biosolubilization mechanisms, and their role in natural manganese biogeochemical cycling. The book demonstrates the role of microorganisms as applied to manganese recovery from ores using bacteria. This new book provides an in-depth view of the latest trends in green mining, along with mechanistic views of biomining and bio recovery processes for both academic (undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral students and lecturers/researchers) and industrial readers.

Autorenporträt
Dr. Alok Prasad Das received his PhDs in Biotechnology from Siksha O Anusandhan University, India, carried out most of his PhD work at CSIR-IMMT and received his M. Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, India. Dr. Das¿s research focuses on Development of Bioleaching technologies for metal recovery and waste management. He has been associated with the development of a methodology whereby microbes could improve the biorecovery process of metals. In addition to this, he is also investigating advanced mineral processing technology with special emphasis on microbial resource recycling techniques, which are required for sustainable development and to accomplish present demand. This technology can be applied to other fields such as resource utilization, waste minimization and environmental remediation. His research interests also focus upon microbial biogeochemical cycling of manganese which has resulted in a number of key papers in the area (see S. Ghosh and A.P. Das 2018, Nature Scientific Report; Mohanty et al., 2018, Rev in Env Sc & Biotech, Das et al., 2011, Biores Tech- 85 citations). His current Google Scholar: Citations is 600 and h-index 13. Dr. Alok has more than 10 years of research experience on bioleaching, bioremediation, mineral recovery techniques with expertise on microbial culture isolation and screening studies, strain development and optimization studies for efficient mineral recovery.
