The subject of this book was expected to be challenging because its contents and the research projects involved two different specialties, Haematology and Endocrinology. The individual research projects were designed and aimed to address areas of importance in terms of ongoing research for both specialties, and to encompass the general theme of improving clinical outcomes related to pathology practice, including improved diagnostic practice to assist in patient management. The book includes a comprehensive general meta-review of haemostatic dysfunction associated with some of endocrine disorders, as a major risk factor and cause of human morbidity and mortality. The intention here was to identify conceptual links between endocrine disorders and haemostasis. Haemostatic dysfunction may present in various forms, but generally is separated into bleeding or thrombotic disorders. Some endocrine disorders are associated with bleeding. This book is aiming to improving and implementing diagnostic tools in pathology with a focus on haemostasis and association with select endocrine disorders.
