Many polymers are widely used for sliding couples against metals, polymers and other materials. However, where the contact is there, there is the problem of friction and wear. The friction between polymers can be attributed to two main mechanisms, deformation and adhesion. The deformation mechanism involves complete dissipation of energy in the contact area while the adhesion component is responsible for the friction of polymer and is a result of breaking of weak bonding forces between polymer chains in the bulk of the material. The need to develop a new material (i.e Composites) in this area of wear and yet maintaining the same mechanical properties still remains a bone of contention. This purpose of this book is to the study wear characteristics of recycled low density polyethylene(RLDPE) composites reinforce with bagasse ash particles. Since both RLDPE and bagasse ash are readily available and very cheap to obtain. The authors hope that this book will spring-up more research in this area.
