Seaports are critical links within supply chains that are often located near residential areas. These seaports can be directly affected by the consequences of operational risk sources and natural disasters. The diversity and large number of stakeholders at seaports add another level of complexity for risk management that requires a standard approach and clear guidelines. In view of the foregoing, this dissertation aimed to develop a prescriptive process model for cooperative risk management in seaports. The prescriptive model can guide stakeholders working at seaports by utilising different cooperation aspects during risk prevention and response. The prescriptive process model presents all steps and aspects related to seaport type and structure, stakeholder analysis, risk governance, risk management, and knowledge management. The results of this dissertation imply that risk managers should not have a single view of risk management. Instead, they should focus on extending the scope of their RM to create a cross-organisational knowledge transfer to mutually create and update measures and assessment methods for risk management.
