Autorenporträt
Ayshia Taskin is an Intermedia artist, moving image producer, printmaker, installation, web-based and performance artist. Her practice focuses on the use and merging of high- and low-tech production methods. For her, all methods of production playfully explored and experimented with. Her works shown in Venice [Surfaces Festival] and [The Festival of Contemporary Art] in Athens for Whistle Project, in the USA at Ely Centre for Contemporary Art, Screen-print Biennial and the Trans-cultural Exchange in Boston, Turkey, Netherlands, England and Scotland. As a curator, Ayshia opened the nomadic Wall Space Gallery and developed the [SHIFT:ibpcpa]; an independent performance art biennale which showcases the work of international artists using web-based Livestream technology. Since 2014, Ayshia engaged in developing collaborative and independent workshops based on drawing, sound, and touch to encourage participants to experiment with sensorial techniques. Ayshia studied at the University of Edinburgh where she gained a distinction BA(Hons) in Intermedia art and an MFA in Contemporary Art Practice. Her research interests focus on Cypriot/Middle Eastern identity, art and neoliberalism and performance art.
