This report mainly focuses on the technical feasibility of knitting of filament silk and spun silk yarns. Silk filament and spun silk yarn were knitted with different knit structures like single jersey, rib and interlock designs. Then, the produced samples were dyed with acid dyes. This report mainly focuses on the technical feasibility of knitting of filament silk and spun silk yarns. Silk filament and spun silk yarn were knitted with different knit structures like single jersey, rib and interlock designs. Then, the produced samples were dyed with acid dyes. The spun silk and silk filament knitted dyed fabrics were tested for geometrical, mechanical, comfort and hand properties. The test results were compared with cotton knitted fabrics made from equivalent count used for silk yarn. Filament silk and spun silk yarn knitted with different design knit structures had been analysed and the most of the test results show that the silk knitted fabrics give good performance in knitting. This study will definitely useful to the industrialists, academicians and students to develop a different product with use of silk materials.
