Democracy remains a controversial topic among scholars and political gladiators allover the world. This book contributes to the unending debate on the failings associated with democratic politics, why demagoguery thrives in Nigeria's democracy and highlights the dangerous dimensions that demagoguery assumes in the Nigerian democratic context where those who dare to present themselves for elective offices must be willing to adopt Machiavellian political tactics in undermining the ideals, principles and values of democracy. This book will be useful to both researchers and the general public in understanding what democracy could mean in other climes, and why leaders that emerge from democratic elections may not have been the peoples' choices!
