Mighty Slim's Galaxy of Stars is a collection of 60 celebrity photos and 60 back stories on how those came to happen. It is the story in pictures and words of one man's quest to snap a photo with the musicians and actors whose work has had an impact on his life and in Slim's words, brought light into this world through their art whether it be music or acting. We have all been to restaurants and seen photos on the wall of most notably the owner and the star that ate there. The author has always enjoyed that and it has had an unconscious influence on him. What started out as a hobby turned into an obsession of many hours waiting outside a concert venue or other location, waiting for a celebrity to walk out just to get that prized photo. Enclosed is a small portion of his collection that currently totals over 400.
Autorenporträt
Bassam Habal aka Mighty Slim was born in the 70s and truly a child of the 70s. He grew up in Gainesville where his love for the great TV at the time and music flourished and became a large focus of his photo obsession on full display in this book. As a guitarist and front man, he has been a major part of several bands including NADZ, The Psychedelic Conspiracy, The Chicken Slack Soul Revue and currently with Slim and Friends. It was in a blues bar in Boston where he got the nickname Mighty Slim, due to his slender physique. While ordering a beer a gentleman at the bar turned to him and said,"Yo man, you mighty slim." In the tradition of the other great blues slims at the time from Memphis Slim to Sunnyland Slim, it was at this moment he decided his stage name would become Mighty Slim.
