Academic Paper from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, , language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the level of importance and the level of practice of personal financial management among the employees working at the University of Cebu at Pardo and Talisay Campus, how it can have a significant impact on their overall wellbeing and performance, and to evaluate and identify potential areas that could use improvement in terms of personal financial management. Personal financial management practices were primarily measured in the following areas: savings, budgeting, financial planning, credit management, and investment management. The study employed a descriptive, correlational, and comparative design to determine the relationship and compare the informants' degree of importance and level of practice (n=60). Personal Financial Management Practices Questionnaire was adapted to measure employees' degree of importance and level of personal financial management practices. Results suggest that employees recognize the value of personal financial management and its potential benefits for their financial wellbeing, having a mean score of 2.80. In contrast, the general weighted mean for the level of practice of personal financial management was 2.23, suggesting that informants only practice personal financial management sometimes. Further, a significant relationship was found between the respondent's profile or position and the degree of importance placed on personal financial management. No significant relationship was found between the respondent's profile or position and the level of practice of personal financial management. Finally, various organizational and scholarly recommendations were prescribed to enhance personal financial management practices further and consequently add to the current knowledge base.
