It is still used as an alternative home remedies against various ailments by various tribes of India. There are some Indigenous Traditional Knowledges related to application of bird's eye chili as antimicrobial agent way back from Mayan civilization of S. America. The present work focuses on understanding the antifungal activities of Capsicum frutescens against various seed-borne fungi of groundnut based on the different in-vitro screening methods, thereby developing bio-formulations for safe consumption and storage of groundnut seeds.

Dr. Soumya S.L. is currently working as Research Associate at ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi. She did her doctoral and masters degree in Botany, from University of Kerala, India, under the guidance of Dr. Bindu R Nair, Dept. of Botany, University of Kerala. Her area of research is Molecular marker & antimicrobial technology.
