Autorenporträt
Brigitta Gisella Geltrich-Ludgate was born in the then British Colony of Kenya. Due to the outbreak of World War II, Brigitta and her older sister were forced with her mother to leave Kenya forever on the Durban Castle bound for Great Britain, but the ship was captured by the Italians and brought to Genoa, Italy. Her father remained in Kenya and then in South Africa. From Italy Brigitta and her sister and mother were transported to Germany since the ancestors and parents of Brigittas mother were living in Germany. At the end of the 1940s Brigittas father finally was released from Kenya to go to Germany to be with his family. In the early 1950s Brigitta and her family moved to Wallaceburg, Ontario, Canada, where Brigitta attended Grades XII and XIII. After graduation Brigitta moved to Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, where she met Douglas George Pierce Junior Ludgate. The two of them married and eventually moved to Bowling Green, Ohio, USA, where George attended classes at the Bowling Green State University to earn his masters degree. Their son, Douglas George Spencer Ludgate was born on February 9, 1965, in Bowling Green.
