Once again, C. L. Jones lifts the lid on Pandora's box of evil and we get to see the underbelly of the dark side of our society in the form of human trafficking. In this case the victims are brutally tortured, raped and even hunted in the wilderness much like a big game hunt.
Enter John, who is essentially retired from the military and later also from the spy business and just happens to start a new life which includes marriage to a remarkable person and a new son. All is well until his wife and child disappear seemingly into thin air. John gets nowhere with the local cops so eventually contacts a group of acquaintances, whom he worked closely with in his past life, all retired military and trained in special forces combat. They agree to help and then the fun begins.
We meet Hustle, Skills, and Saber who also has developed a "legend" as Whispering Ghost because of her special set of skills.
There are hidden thoughts deeply buried in the mind of many military warriors like Hustle, Skill and Whispering Ghost. They've been discharged from the military without given a choice. In the military one day and out the next; anyone who had a long-lasting problem adjusting to civilian worlds was seen as simply a problem, and it had nothing to do with their military service.
What do these Vietnam era ex-soldiers really feel and think?:
Many times they are confused and angry, feeling lost and unable to deal with the unorganized, chaotic, messy civilian world, the lack of respect for each other and those with different views, as well as the phony resentment of their common everyday use and replacement of some words in their precious English language. As a group they soon found out that they were the vicious guard dogs of the people who were scared at night. When darkness settles in and the scary, creepy sounds were outside, they were the ones who were set loose. Then when the bad people were eliminated, they were told what good boys and girls they were; they may even get a pat on the head. But when their swanky up-town friends show up, the elite want to lock them up in the garage and deny that they even exist.
Those who came before them wore the same uniforms, and the ones after them were honored and revered, but to this day the only real respect they as a group get is from the younger sister and brother warriors once they come home. The disloyalty they felt wasn't just to them, it was to their country. Coming home to a world where the old ways they were taught as children were no longer applied; such as things like values, kindness, individual dignity, mindfully learning from and finding value in opposing viewpoints and conversation. Everything now seemed to be about "me, me, me" or "I, I, I". Individual selfishness took over any ideas or feelings about your fellow man; everything faded away into a form of acceptable cowardness. The country was struggling with its first steps towards moral decline, and everyone from the leaders of the country, the educators, and the evening news media seemed to be pushing that same narrative. The country was tired and aimlessly wanted some kind of sensible and reasonable leadership.
Is it time for some real heroes? Well let's get you introduced to Hustle, Skills and Whispering Ghost, who set out to make the evil human traffickers pay the ultimate price.
