Autorenporträt
Goose Fedders was raised by coyotes near Lake Kickapoo where her ancestor's wagon must have broken down in a particularly inhospitable part of Texas called Tornado Alley. Lightly educated at Davy Crockett Elementary School, she is deficient in math, history and geography, but with a spirit as light as a swaying coyote tail glimpsed moving down an arroyo. After two disappointing semesters at Texas Christian University, she lit out for higher ground and lighter air in New Mexico, enchanted by the Land of Enchantment, where she made a career of painting wooden snakes, porcelain, canvas, and suede clothing along with a stint of doll-making decades after winning a national doll contest she did not enter. She made 1064 dolls on a Singer treadle machine, numbered and named. Today she makes art and writes in a cabin by the river with short arroyo-running breaks with her own coyote family, replete with coyote stories and pranks.
