Gary Draper graduated from High School in 1964 and as an outside activity became a member of Junior Achievement, learning the basics of business. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation to explore the world and qualify for the G.I. Bill to pay for his future education and eliminate the need for a 20% down payment on a future purchase of a home. He graduated from California State University, Fullerton, in 1974 and worked at Disneyland as a ride operator during his tenure. Then, for the next 40 years or so, he was primarily a self-employed Executive Recruiter or a so-called "headhunter." Over the years, he enjoyed success, as he averaged about six figures in annual billings, mostly as a one-person-shop, working from his home office and with very little overhead. In 2013, Gary began studying success experts. This gave him new energy and lots of ideas. Then, in 2014, he launched a new approach to his business and life, using what he termed the Principles of Happiness and Success. He became happier, his business and his character changed for the better, and in 2015, his annual billings rose by nearly 4 times his career average. This was all of the proof he needed. He credits this success to discovering what he needed to know and do to enhance his character and succeed. This motivated him to make this work the best quick resource possible, and inspired him to try to make the world a better place by publishing this work of life advice based on the Principles of Happiness and Success. This work, then, represents the desire of all parents to have their kids learn the basics of happiness and success.
