This work is part of the completion of a Master of Science degree in Chemistry from University of Colorado Colorado Springs. After a comprehensive review of current literature dealing with silver nanoparticles' current use, toxicity, environmental consequences, and current synthetic methods, several improved synthetic methods are presented utilizing a synthesis-grade microwave while abiding by the guidelines of green chemistry. The techniques presented here are easy, accessible methods for the purpose of further research in the field of silver nanoparticle research.
