The year is 1847. The potato famine that is flogging Ireland prompts Dr. Joseph McKinney and his family to flee to American where opportunity awaits. All too soon ignorance, fear and unfounded prejudice torment the immigrants. Aside from adversity, and cloaked under the illusion of a normal family, lies a root of unspeakable horror. Will the doctor realize what is happening around him, or is he doomed to be a victim?

Autorenporträt
Researching and writing about the 1800's for the past 20 years has been very gratifying. I'm an avid reader of the era, and in my novels, the characters often encounter personal challenges. They must possess keen intellect, determination and in some cases, faith. I believe a good book does not need grapic violence or extremely vulgar language in describing the character's ability to overcome insurmountable obstacles. In my leisure time, my husband and I travel. I live in Oregon and enjoy watching the animal life on the Pacific coast, in particular, the annual whale migration. I am a very active supporter of several animal organizations and own a Miniature Schnauzer.
