From 1992, the free and comprehensive hazard mitigation framework- the Hazus-MH is widely used in United States, but for the flood risk assessment it was never well-applied internationally. In this book author introduces Hazus-MH Riverine Flood Model methodology, used data types, flood hazard, risk mapping methods and best practice results from his performed case studies in US. Out of his knowledge and experience he suggests how to modify Hazus-MH to be able to perform flood risk assessment in Europe. This book contributes to develop a framework, which combines free, open source and comprehensive tools. This framework would significantly support communities to perform flood risk assessment with minimal costs.

Author got his bachelor of measurement engineering in VGTU, Lithuania. After the abroad research in Germany he started the master studies of SDSS in CUAS, Austria. The experience in USA encouraged him to focus on the field of emergency management and risk assessment, where he is currently active and works at European Academy in Italy, as researcher
