Warm blood trickled down both legs, past the knees, saturating his socks and police shoes. Traffic Court Judge Lemuel DeBerry never knew Officer Glenwood Burley was testifying before him while fighting a severe inflammatory disease. Long overdue for surgery Burley prolonged it, not for the fear of the knife, but his fear of surrendering his badge. A red flag! He loved law enforcement too much. To him - it was all he had.
