Because of the policy of the winners of the war, was to burn down courthouses in the Southland of America, this is only a small collection of approximately 20,000 African American support soldiers. ¿¿The interior book design is highlighted by description columns. Column One- Person's full name along with other names used. Column Two- The Company the person served in. Column Three- The Unit or ship the person served in. Column Four- The Rank achieved by the person in the unit of record or job title. Column Five- Whether the person was a Slave or a Free Man of Color (FMC) and other miscellaneous information found. Many are drafted or ordered by their slave masters and forcibly delivered to Confederate army campsites. And at the end of the war black confederates received pensions and which are listed.
