This story documents the lengthy journey from mild traumatic brain injury to healing for a small-town obstetrician and gynecologist. He does us the service of describing his injury and challenges in open and honest terms. Those who have dealt with concussion and its continual effects will find common ground here with the author. We are motivated when we realize that he continues his work of service to his patients through these challenges. We are inspired by the fight and recovery detailed and reassured by his dependence on a greater power. We learn of how love can be a great tool for healing, and how challenges lead to maturity. We see in action, the scripture, "all things work for good...to those who are called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28.

The author of this odyssey exposes us to the rigors of medical training and medical practice. We learn of his drive and his calling. We suffer his shock when a fall derails the path that he had so carefully constructed. He allows us an inside view of how he is forced to adapt to a new post-head-injury normal. His gifts allow us a dual perspective. We see his injury and response from the view of a confused victim. As well, because of his professional perspective acquired over years of medical practice, we also can find detached perspective and healing guidance for others. As he writes, he teaches.
