Chen Dongsheng, Founder of China Guardian Auctions and Taikang Life Insurance, currently serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Taikang Insurance Group. Mr. Chen is also Member of Advisory Committee of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Economic Adviser of Hubei Provincial People's Government, President of China Association of Actuaries, President of Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum, President of Global Chushang Association, and Founding President of Wuhan University Alumni Entrepreneurs Association. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics at Wuhan University, is Lifetime Member of the Board of Trustees of his alma mater, and also serves as Professor at Dong Fureng Economics & Social Development School and Doctoral Supervisor of Wuhan University. In 1993, Mr. Chen founded China Guardian Auctions, China's first international auction house, where he served as Chairman of the Board and General Manager. In 1996, he founded TaikangLife Insurance (currently known as Taikang Insurance Group, a Fortune Global 500 company since 2018), where he has been Chairman and CEO to this day. Prior to forming China Guardian and Taikang, he worked at Developed Countries Study Department, International Trade Research Institute, Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation from 1983 through 1988; later on, he served as Deputy Editor in Chief, Journal of Management World, Development Research Center of the State Council during which time he spearheaded China's ranking of Top 500 Chinese companies. He is Leading Figure of "Class of 92" (business elites who left the government or official research institutes in 1992 to start their own business), is recognized as "Top 100 Outstanding Entrepreneurs during 40 years of reform and opening up", and is awarded the title of "Outstanding Builders of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics". In 2020, under his leadership, both Global Chushang Association and Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital were merited with the national title of "Outstanding Institution in the fight against Covid-19", and he was awarded the national title of "Outstanding Personnel from the private sector in the fight against Covid-19".
